As the seasons change, so do our habits. And nothing is more annoying than flaky, dry lips. They can make us feel self-conscious, and sometimes uncomfortable.
Lip health is an important part of overall wellbeing. Keeping lips hydrated and cared for can help maintain comfort and a healthy feeling.
As we move into spring, the change in seasons can sometimes affect our lips, especially if we’re becoming more active again. Wind, sun, and seating conditions may contribute to lips feeling less nourished.
Some helpful do’s and don’ts:
-
Don’t lick your lips – while it may feel soothing at first, licking can contribute to drying lips further.
-
Keep hydrated – lips can be an early indicator of hydration levels. When activity increases, drinking enough water can support lip moisture.
-
Avoid petroleum-based products – some lip products with synthetic ingredients may not be ideal for prolonged use near the mouth.
-
Use natural products – natural lip balms can help maintain moisture and keep lips feeling comfortable. Applying balm before bed can be beneficial, especially since breathing during sleep can dry out lips.
