What is nicotinamide riboside, one of the key ingredients in LifeMax NR?
Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a form of vitamin B3 also known as niacin or nicotinic acid. NR helps our cells make NAD+ which functions as the fuel source for our cells to repair DNA and for cellular energy production. Nicotinamide riboside is found naturally in small amounts of foods including cow's milk and brewer's yeast, however, the amounts obtained from diet alone are low compared to what can be achieved through supplementation with LifeMax NR.
What is NAD+ and why is it important, especially as we age?
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme found in all cells that is essential to central metabolism. As we age our body doesn’t make as much NAD+ which is when we use it the most to help the body naturally repair damaged DNA, protect from oxidative stress and inflammation. There are many studies linking decreased levels of NAD+ to increased age related health challenges (refer to the graphs).
But you can’t just take NAD+, the body needs to make it. The best material, or pre-cursor to make NAD+ is nicotinomide riboside chloride (NR chloride). Compared to other precursors NR is more orally bioavailable, it increases NAD+ in multiple tissues, increases sirtuin activity, improves mitochondrial function and has been granted GRAS (generally regarded as safe) status. NR does not cause flushing or other negative effects that some other NAD+ precursors can cause.
What makes LifeMax NR such a powerful product to support healthy ageing?
At About Health we look for the best ingredients possible, then we look at other nutrients that support them – nature has shown us time and again that certain nutrients work better together compared to when they’re isolated – this is called synergy. This is true also of Nicotinamide Riboside (one of the key ingredients in LifeMax NR).
Resveratrol, another key ingredient, is a well-known sirtuin activating compound. Sirtuins are a group of proteins that help to regulate things like circadian rhythm, glucose and fat metabolism and healthy ageing.
Furthermore, quercetin and turmeric are in LifeMax NR. Not only do they have many of their own benefits, they also work synergistically to enhance the absorption of resveratrol. Quercetin and resveratrol also enhance the absorption of turmeric.
The powerful combination of NR to increase NAD+ levels in the blood, alongside resveratrol which activates sirtuins is the reason LifeMax NR is unique and can offer so many health benefits.

This slows the breakdown of resveratrol and acts as a potent antioxidant. This is found in many plants and foods and supports the cardiovascular system and joint health. By supporting the body's natural inflammatory response, it contributes to overall well-being and healthy ageing.

Directions
Adults take 1 to 2 capsules daily. For best results take 1 capsule in the morning and 1 in the evening, with food; or as advised by your health professional.
Precautions
