Iron absorptionAs we know, iron deficiency or iron anaemia causes fatigue and can be common mainly in women. The best way to determine lack of iron is to have a blood test as you don’t want to supplement unnecessarily. An overload can be dangerous to the heart and liver. Include more lean beef or ham, tofu, pumpkin seeds, spinach, chickpeas and molasses in your diet or find an iron supplement that is chelated to prevent supplemental constipation. Remember if you are taking vitamin E take it away from your iron and avoid smoking, soft drinks, tea and coffee. These adversely affect iron absorption.

TVONE News Features 'The Red Wine Pill'

12 June 2008

We have been inundated with emails and calls today. Isn't it exciting? TVONE NEWS finally highlighted the discovery of resveratrol  'the red wine pill' last night.

Harvard medical scientist David Sinclair's ongoing findings on the plant compound Resveratrol have already been aired and published for over two years. Prominent TV programmes and magazines such as ABC News, CNN, Times magazine and Wall Street Journal have reported his and other researchers' findings in relation to health. These include Resveratrol's impact on ageing and related diseases, energy, heart health and brain health. Medical journals also continue to publish studies and Resveratrol's many benefits.

TVONE NEWS  told the story last night about the ‘amazing’ substance that has been isolated in red wine and how one day scientists think it might be possible to put it into a pill for the benefit of mankind.

What they didn’t say is that Resveratrol has been in ‘pill’ form or at the very least capsule form (and safely and effectively used) for years. Drug companies cannot patent herbal medicinal extracts so pharmaceutical giant Glaxo Smith will continue with their research to turn Resveratrol into drug form which may be available in 3 to 4 years.

People all around the world including scientists studying Resveratrol have been supplementing with resveratrol from plants (according to Time magazine) to ward of the effects of aging. And Mediterranean people have been drinking Resveratrol obtained from red wine for decades perhaps hundreds of years.

New Zealanders 'in the know' already have the advantage. They have already taken on this information and have been taking Res-V Plus from About Health for two years now. Auckland University research proves that each capsule of Res V Plus supplies 25mg of Resveratrol which can equate to the Resveratrol found in up to 35 bottles of red wine. Scientist have shown that 25mg is a therapeutic dose used in many ground breaking studies.

Hopefully Resveratrol news items will continue to air on NZ news reports and highlight these illuminating and ongoing research results. Thank you for all the phone calls, emails and for your support.

Have wine...pop a pill. Drinking a little red wine can be good for you and now US scientists are zeroing in on the  ingredient that makes it so beneficial. Soon you might be able to get it by popping a pill, instead of a cork
